Yannis Sarakatsanis

Yannis Sarakatsanis is the founder of the very successful team Abovo! They have presented the plays “There there in Hell”, “Zelov” and “Mama Greece 2”.

He was born in Athens in 1975. Since 1992 to 2000 he was an unmercenary worker of the amateur theatre, as a pupil and as a student.  

In 2000 he decided not to be unmercenary any more and entered the Drama School “Modern Athens Theatre of George Kimoulis”. In 2001 he played “Antigoni” of Sofoklis in direction of G. Kimoulis, music of D. Savvopoulos and chorographies of Marcello Magni (Theatre de Complicite) in Epidavros Festival.  

In 2002, looking for something more exotic, he moved for a year in London. He followed the professional programme of “The School of Physical Theatre” and played in three representations while following the school. He was in the same time participating in the theatrical team “Homunculus Wot!?” in musical and theatrical cabaret plays.  

He was a member of the street theatre teams Pantoum and Elix and he accompanied for one year Riri the alien in the streets of Thiseio.  

He has made the assiduity in the script of Vasilis Katsikis’ movie “I4, Loufa kai Apallagi” which is the follower of the movies “Loufa kai Parallagi” of Nikos Perakis.
